"Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself."

Hello! My name is Caleb Dodson. I'm a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst-in-training practicing in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, loneliness, powerlessness, relationship difficulties, obsession and compulsion, disconnection from themselves and others, religious trauma, grief, hopelessness, a dulling sense of life, major life transitions, existential concerns, infidelity, and divorce.

I believe that our sense of self—our idea of what "the good life" is—emerges through our experiences, our relationships, and the ways we make meaning of the world. Too often, this process is disrupted or constrained. But when we give ourselves space, attention, and the presence of someone who meets us with understanding, curiosity, and respect, something profound can unfold. Therapy is where we reconnect with the experience of simply being here. Like a snowball gathering momentum or a carpet unfurling, change happens gradually, through hundreds of small moments of awareness and connection.

My training is rooted in Existential Analysis, and I am currently a psychoanalyst-in-training at The National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP). My approach draws heavily from existential and interpersonal traditions, but beyond any particular theory, I believe growth happens when we are deeply met and seen for who we truly are. The past and future converge in the present moment, and therapy is a space where that meeting can be explored.

If you're curious about the process or considering working together, I invite you to reach out for a conversation. Let’s see where it leads.
